Because I have nothing better to do with my time apart from shipping various members of the CSSC community.
Raph wiped the sweat from his brow. It had been a tiring day after all, the cans needed stacking and the chocolate needed eating; not to mention the ongoing war with UPS.
Ever since Alex tricked had the UPS committee to give him total power the inter club relationship had soured. Having a taste for power Alex wanted more and CSSC was the obvious choice.
There came a knock from the door.
“The muffin eats nothing but corn.” Said Raph as per procedure.
“But the whale doth not see the night.” Came the correct reply.
Raph let the door creak open as Tyler came in.
“Status report?” Asked Raph, casually munching on a Twix.
“It’s not good out there. Alex has an iron grip over UPS. and the rest of the club are too scared to do anything about it. He threw a person out of the window last week for looking at him funny. I mean, I am all for Alex finally showing some ambition but not like this, never like this.”
Raph cursed, “How could we have let it get like this? How could we have been so blind? As soon as Alex became President I knew I should have done something.”
“There is nothing we could have done Raph, our hands were tied.”
“I don’t care! We should have done something about it! I shoul-”
“Damn it Raph,” Tyler interrupted. “You know as well as any of us that nothing could have prevented this! It was in the constitution Raph! It was in the consitution.”
“I don’t care!” Roared Raph. “It is because of me that so many people have lost their lives! I should have headed this off at the start! I should have killed him when I had the chance!”
They glared at each other both daring the other to make a move. Time seemed to slow down as the tension seemed to solidify in the air.
Tyler sighed, “Look at us Raph. This stupid war has gotten to both of us.” He put a friendly hand on Raph’s shoulder. “No one blames you for what you didn’t do. None of us knew that Alex would take it this far. You need to stop focusing on the past and forgive yourself Raph, so you can lead us to victory. Then you can beat yourself up but after we’ve toppled Alex’s Tyrannical Rule.”
Raph sighed, “You’re right. Thanks, I needed to hear that. I’ll put the past on hold for now as we focus on the present. Does Alex still have those AR drones?”
“4 strong, each a killing machine in its own right. He has used the powers of science to give them infinite battery life.”
“Well, if we can capture one of them we can reprogram it and infiltrate his command.”
Tyler smiled, “If I can get you one, do you reckon you could reprogram it?”
“Please Tyler,” smiled Raph, “I couldn’t think of anyone better to do the job.”
It had been two days and Tyler still hadn’t returned. Raph impatiently paced across the clubroom floor.
“Don’t worry about Tyler.” Kayla told him, “I’m sure he will be fine.”
“I know.” said Raph, “I just hope he could hurry it up a tiny bit.”
“Well I’m sure he is hurrying as fast as he can.” said Kayla looking out the window, “As he has a drone tracked on him.”
Raph looked out the window and sure enough there was Tyler sprinting towards the clubroom being chased by one of those nefarious AR drones. His clothes were torn and he has dripping blood but he wore a smile of triumph and for good reason as under his arm was a deactivated AR drone. Raph knew it was deactivated because if it was activated Tyler would be dead, that and it had a massive dent in its side.
“Damn it,” Raph turned to Kayla, “You stay here, I’ll go help Tyler.”
“Like hell I will!” Kayla snapped back, “We can’t have you risking your butt out there. We need you alive to lead the club!”
“No!” Raph shouted, “I am not going to stand idly by as another person gets kil-”
“Look! Only you can operate that door and you are the only person we can trust! Plus if you die then Alex automatically becomes president of CSSC! We need you alive Raph!”
“What!? When did this happen?” Demanded Raph.
Kayla spat. “It’s in the constitution.”
Raph floundered for a moment. He wanted to help Tyler, he needed to help Tyler. But he couldn’t let Alex become president of the CSSC. He didn’t want to endanger Kayla but it seemed like it was the only logica- THE HELL IT WAS! He wasn’t going to die! And he wasn’t going to let anyone else die for him!
“Now listen here.” He began, “You stay here while I go help Tyler.”
“I was afraid you would say something like that.” Whispered Kayla and punched him in the face.
The last thing Raph saw before he blacked out was Kayla jumping out of the window to help Tyler.
A few hours later Raph came to. He shook his head as he tried to remember what happened. There was Tyler with a drone and he was running from anot- KAYLA!
Where was Kayla?
He took in his surroundings. It was the club room all right but something was different. Something was strange. He strained his ears, yes, there it was. A faint scratching, a faint singing.
“But the whale doth not see the night. But the whaaaale doth not see the night.”
That was strange Raph thought. Why would the whale not see the nig- The door! He staggered over and opened it and there was Tyler lying in front of it softly singing the password. Swearing he dragged Tyler in.
His right arm had been torn off and he was shot in multiple places. He was losing blood fast. There was a far off look in his eyes, as though he could see something others couldn’t.
“Tyler,” weeped Raph, “Talk to me Tyler.”
Tyler tried to smile, “Raph? I’m sorry, I tried to stop them, I really did but I.... I was jus-”
He took a deep breath in. “It’s ok Tyler,” Raph said putting on a brave face. “Take your time.”
“I got the first drone easy, well relatively easy, only got shot once but the second one came out of nowhere. They probably had communications with each other, constantly giving status reports. I should have realised that. Should have done something about it.”
“Hey,” said Raph, “You need to stop focusing on the past and forgive yourself. A great friend once told me that.”
Tyler smiled and went on, “I went as fast as I could towards the clubroom but the other drone was closing in fast. I could feel it honing in on me, could feel it getting closer. Knew it was going to be the end. Knew I would feel the claws of death ripping away my skin at any moment. But then there was Kayla, just standing there daring the drone to come at her. Daring it to try and end us. I’m sorry Raph. I’m so sorry!”
“Damn it Tyler!” cursed Raph, “I need the full story!”
“She...she... she took something off her neck, a necklace I guess, and kissed it. Threw it to safety. Didn’t want it to get hurt.”
Raph’s eyes glistened. The necklace he gave her! It matched her eyes and sparkled if you held it just right. It was brilliant.
“She...she...she saved me Raph. Ran towards it guns blazing. Never missing, never stopping. But you know those drones, nothing can stop them. At least not forever. Learnt that the hard way.” He gestured towards his arm, “The first drone reactivated and took my arm with it. Kayla saw it just in time to dodge. Noone can take on two drones by themselves! And the other two caught wind of what was happening and was closing in fast. We both knew we were goners and She looked at me Raph, looked me right in the eyes and said “Tell Raph, that I believe in him.” Grabbed one of the drones and whispered something in its ears, I don’t know, some magic psychology stuff probably and all of a sudden they were all chasing her as she ran over the hills.”
Raph just stared at Tyler, not wanting to believe but knew it was so.
“Alex!” He roared. “YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS! YOU HEAR!? YOU AND YOUR DRONES AND YOUR SCIENCE WILL RUE THE DAY YOU CROSSED PATHS WITH THE CSSC!”
YOU WILL RUE IT!”
And then Putin came in riding a bear and won the war for CSSC. Later Putin and Tyler made out and then Tyler died a happy man.
The End!
